Keep the subject, drop the room
Most captures contain far more than anyone wants. A photogrammetry pass around an object also reconstructs the table, the wall behind it and a cloud of half-formed noise where the camera never quite looked. Cropping to a box is the bluntest possible fix and, most of the time, the right one — it is fast, it is predictable, and it removes exactly what you point it at.
A box you can see
Six number fields describing a region you cannot see are almost useless. This tool draws the box as a wireframe in the same 3D view as the capture, so you can orbit around and watch the selection sit where you meant it to. Six sliders — a minimum and a maximum on each axis — drive it, expressed as a fraction of the capture's own bounding box with the value in scene units beside each one.
The count updates while you drag
The number of splats inside the box is recomputed as you move a slider, before anything is cropped. A point-in-box test over two million splats takes a few milliseconds in a background worker, so there is no reason to make you guess.
Invert to cut instead of keep
With the selection inverted, the box becomes a hole: everything inside it is discarded and the rest is kept. This is the fast way to delete a floating artefact or a reflection ghost without touching the rest of the scene.
A splat is kept or dropped by the position of its centre. A large Gaussian straddling the boundary is either fully in or fully out — there is no partial clipping — so the cut edge is slightly ragged at the scale of the biggest splats in the capture.
The box is axis-aligned in the capture's own coordinate system. If your capture is not aligned to its axes, rotate it first and then crop.
Export the result as PLY, SPZ, KSPLAT or SPLAT. Everything runs in a background worker inside this page; the capture is never uploaded.
