Brightness and Contrast Tool
Fine-tune the tonal range of any photo with two intuitive sliders. Brightness adds or subtracts a constant value from every pixel; contrast scales pixels around mid-gray to widen or compress the tonal range.
When to use brightness
Use brightness to compensate for under- or overexposed photos. Push it positive to lift dark scenes; pull it negative to recover blown-out highlights. Useful for quickly normalizing camera-roll photos before posting or sending.
When to use contrast
Contrast widens the gap between dark and light pixels. Push it positive to make images crisper and more punchy. Pull it negative for softer, dreamier tones popular in editorial and lifestyle photography.
Use cases
- Normalize photos shot in tricky lighting
- Add punch to website hero images
- Soften portraits for a dreamy mood
