Metadata-only conversion

This mode updates only the DPI tag embedded in the image file, leaving pixels untouched. Your image dimensions stay the same while the DPI value changes. Resample conversion

Resampling physically resizes your image to match the target DPI. If you're converting from 72 DPI to 300 DPI, the image becomes 4x larger (same content, more pixels). This maintains the physical size your image would print at while adjusting pixel dimensions accordingly.
