Pixelate Image
Turn any image into a chunky mosaic of colored blocks. Useful for retro 8-bit style art, low-resolution previews, and redacting faces, text, or other private content in photos.
How it works
The tool downscales your image to a much smaller canvas, then scales it back up to the original size with image smoothing disabled. The result is large, sharp-edged pixel blocks. The block size slider controls how aggressive the pixelation is.
Use cases
- Retro 8-bit and 16-bit pixel art aesthetics
- Redact faces, license plates, or sensitive text in photos
- Stylized social media thumbnails
- Game asset prototyping
- Privacy-preserving previews and blog headers
- Generative art and design experimentation
Tips
Small block sizes (2–6 px) give subtle texture; medium (8–16 px) is great for retro game vibes; large (32+ px) heavily abstracts the image, ideal for censorship or extreme stylization.
All processing happens locally in your browser. Output is a high-quality PNG.
