What it reads
This tool decodes five machine-embroidery formats directly in your browser, byte by byte, with no server involved: Tajima DST, Melco EXP, Janome JEF, and Brother PES/PEC. Each one is parsed from its documented record layout — DST's 3-byte bit-encoded stitch records, EXP/JEF's 2-byte relative moves with control bytes, and PES/PEC's delta-encoded stitch block — rather than guessed at.
.vp3 (Husqvarna Viking/Pfaff) is not supported yet; it uses a much more involved nested block structure. Uploading one shows a clear message instead of a wrong result.
What you get
The design renders on a canvas exactly as the machine would sew it, one continuous thread path per colour block, broken wherever the file jumps or trims. Real-world dimensions come from the decoded stitch positions themselves, not a header field a digitiser might have left wrong — shown in both millimetres and inches. Stitch, jump, trim and colour-change counts are broken out separately, and the thread palette is listed with swatches wherever the format actually carries colour information.
A note on colour
DST and EXP store no colour data at all — the palette lives only in the digitising software or the machine's own thread stand. Those two render in a neutral grey, and the tool says so rather than inventing colours. JEF and PES/PEC store a palette index into Janome's or Brother's own fixed thread charts, so the names and RGB values shown are those official swatches, not necessarily the exact thread the original designer used.
