What it counts

Every number here comes from decoding the actual stitch records, not from a header field. Stitches, jumps, trims and colour changes are tallied separately, so you can spot a design with an unusually high jump count (often a sign of inefficient digitising, since every jump is dead machine time) or a stitch count that will run long on a small hoop.

Stitch-length distribution

Every needle-to-needle segment is measured in millimetres and binned into a histogram. A design dominated by very short stitches (under about 1mm) sews slowly and can pucker fine fabric; a design with a long tail of stitches over 6-7mm risks loose, catch-prone thread on the finished piece. Minimum, maximum, mean and median length are shown alongside the histogram.

Density

Stitch density is total real stitches divided by the design's bounding-box area, in stitches per cm². This is a coarse, whole-design number — a design that is mostly outline with one dense filled corner will read lower than that corner actually is, and the tool says so rather than implying a precision it does not have.

Colour blocks

Each run of stitches between colour changes is listed with its start index, end index and stitch count, so you can see at a glance which thread does the most (or least) work.
