AVIF to PNG Converter
Convert AVIF images to lossless PNG in seconds. AVIF is great for bandwidth, but PNG offers universal compatibility and perfect pixel preservation, making it the right choice when editing or archiving.
Why convert AVIF to PNG
AVIF files can be beautifully compact, but many editors, operating systems, and apps still struggle with them. PNG is the long-established interchange format and works everywhere without plugins. Because PNG is lossless, the output matches the decoded AVIF pixel for pixel — ideal for further editing.
How it works
This tool relies on the browser's built-in AVIF decoder (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari all support it). The AVIF is loaded into an <img> element, drawn onto a canvas, and re-encoded as PNG. Nothing leaves your device — all processing is 100% client-side.
Preserves transparency
Both AVIF and PNG support alpha channels. Transparent backgrounds and soft shadows in the AVIF are carried over exactly as they were, without any fill color or background substitution.
Batch conversion
Select a single file or drop in a whole folder of AVIF images. Each file is converted in parallel, and you get per-file download links with size comparisons. Because PNG is lossless, the output will normally be larger than the AVIF source.
Typical use cases
- Edit AVIF images in Photoshop, GIMP, or other tools that only accept PNG
- Upload to services that do not support AVIF (most email, many CMS, older mobile apps)
- Archive images in a universally supported format
- Produce a high-fidelity master copy for printing or further processing
Privacy
Files never leave your device. Conversion happens entirely in your browser via the Canvas API.
